Renovare Week 2 Feb 17th-23rd

Dallas Willard - The Cost of Non-Discipleship

The cost of discipleship is a fairly familiar concept and something we often like to take pride in.

What we don't consider is the cost of non-discipleship. Specifically the cost of not truly training in the discipline of following Christ.

Renovare Week 1 Feb 9th - 16th

C.S. Lewis - Mere Christianity

If we take our natural selves as the starting point and try to apply morality and good behaviour, we will eventually either have to give up trying to be good, or worse, become a miserable martyr.

Unless we allow our natural self to be handed over to Christ, and our will replaced with His will, His cross, every morning, we can not be His Disciple.

Simplicity

Simplicity:

God exists. The Bible is the divinely inspired authoritative Word of God. God loves us and in the person of Jesus of Nazareth who is fully God, died for our sins. Jesus rose from the dead defeating sin and death. Whoever believes in Him as their personal saviour will be brought to live forever with God in Heaven.

Complexity:

Complexity is what we do to confuse ourselves and muddy the simple message. It is the way that we hide from the necessary reaction to such a sumple message and the tools that we use are doubt, and logic, and the unquestioning belief in the ability of human kind. What is God? Has the Bible been corrupted by time and human understanding? Was Jesus really brought back to life after 3 days in the grave? How is this relevant to me? I believe in Jesus, isn't that enough?

How much is enough? How much is too much?
